Is Dead By Daylight Survivor Sided?

In this video, I react to SpookyZombae's video discussing the question of whether Dead by Daylight is currently survivor sided or killer sided, and I break down why I disagree with some of the arguments commonly used in this debate. One of the biggest problems with the Dead by Daylight balance discussion is looking at old patches, historical mechanics, and how broken the game used to be in order to argue that the current game is balanced. Yes, Dead by Daylight has gone through periods where certain mechanics, perks, maps, and strategies were significantly more powerful than they are today. But that doesn't tell us whether the CURRENT version of DBD favors Killers or Survivors. I discuss why using historical balance as proof that the game isn't survivor sided doesn't accurately represent the current patch. Previous versions of DBD being even more survivor sided, or having different problems entirely, doesn't automatically mean the modern game is balanced. Current perks, maps, mechanics, survivor resources, gen efficiency, chase potential, and the overall state of matchmaking all need to be considered when discussing the game's balance.
