Talk from drab to fab... It's time for the new kitchen floor! This week, we tiled the kitchen floor - the first time in history this room has had tiles. In the past, it had a wooden floor that was removed sometime in the last 60 years and replaced with concrete. Concrete is great and solid, but just throwing dirty linoleum over the top was not our style by any extent of the imagination. When searching for inspiration, we looked to the rock. Something about this house that we have always loved is how each side of the house looks like a completely different house. The log side feels like a castle, while the rock side feels like a vacation home in Croatia. And we wanted the inside to feel the same way. Though most designers would find this "incohesive," its our house, we can do what we want. So we picked a limestone mimic tile and a sandstone mimic tile to compliment the exposed walls. It was really fun to have Luka's brother Metod come out and help us out with the tiling. He has the most beautiful mosaic floor in his apartment he did himself, and so we pulled him in to help us out. Though we probably didn't listen as much as we should have. It was still a nice memory to have with the flooring. Thank you to Metod for all your help! Thank you to our friends, and fans of the channel, Erazem and Monica for donating their surplus grout and tile to get this project done. Thank you to Ashley Swartz for the t-shirt designs! Thank you to Lovro for the beautiful drawing!
