Do you often say "I'm so lazy"? In this easy English podcast about laziness, Emma and Jake explain why you're probably not lazy at all, what really stops you, and how to stop feeling lazy with one simple question: "What's in the way?"
Jake's broken bike stayed in his hallway for three months, and he was sure it was because he's lazy. Then his brother asked him one simple question. Emma had a yellow note on her fridge for two weeks: "Call the bank." You'll hear about "the laziness lie" (from psychologist Devon Price's book "Laziness Does Not Exist"), play a quick game to find what's in the way, answer a real question out loud with us, and get three simple ideas for the things you never get around to.
This episode is for A2-B1 learners who want to practice listening to slow, clear, natural English about daily life and personal growth, and who sometimes feel lazy.
5 useful expressions from this episode:
• lie around = spend time lying on the sofa or in bed, doing nothing
• get around to (doing something) = finally do something, after you planned it for a long time
• get in the way / be in the way = stop you from doing what you want
• worn out = very, very tired, with no energy left
• deal with (something) = do something to solve a problem
Emma has taught English to adults for about ten years. Jake is a graphic designer who is learning Spanish, so he knows how it feels to learn a new language.
