I’m not complaining I’ve always enjoyed making things for someone birthday over buying. That don’t mean I’ll make anyone a battle cause its their birthday, obviously, but I have done it for close folk like her, my brother, and partner. Its fun trying to make em happy with the matchup or content inside. Hopefully she watches this and ends up really liking it! Love you Mama Now time for our usual origin talk, starting with Robin Hood. So the first time I watched this film I did not care for it. Thought it was boring and somehow slow even with its really short runtime. My favorite character was the Sheriff cause he had the most outward personality, dude was funny and wasn’t subtle or quiet like the rest of the cast. But upon a second viewing I did come to appreciate the movie in a new way and it was the simplicity. Not many movies quite exist nowadays that are just fun little romps and don’t have like world ending threats or some larger than life stakes. Sure by the end there’s a big fight and a flaming castle but for the most part this movie is very subtle with its story and humor, very charming with its characters and moments between them. Robin may not have had much to go off of, which I realized quite quickly while writing this battle, he is still a real fun character to watch and root for. Now Puss in Boots, my favorite Shrek character! I’ve loved this furry Zorro since I was a wee lad, ever since he appeared in Shrek 2 he was the reason I’d watch the other movies yes even Shrek 4 where hes a big fat house cat lol. What stunk about this though is his first film leaves a lot to be desired it was very… okay? Like I enjoyed a good chunk I would say like anything pre Humpty Dumpty was pretty good but once he shows up and they start doing jokes with him it falls off a bit. Also theres a like 30 minute flashback in the middle of it that completely took me out cause I was like so whatever I was flabbergasted that the movie not only was still going after the flashback ended but I kind of forgot what the plot was because of the narrative split there. So yeah not terrible but I wouldn’t watch again. Now the sequel Last Wish is genuinely one of the easiest and most fun movies to watch period. You ever wonder why Puss specifcally has so many battles made with him? Last Wish certainly played a big part in that, its so good and for a time it was everywhere!
