Zöe Franklin calls for improved protection of elected officials

House of Commons - 13th July 2026 - During a debate on the death of Ann Widdecombe, Guildford MP, Zöe Franklin, spoke on the need to ensure the safety of elected officials at all levels of politics. Zöe particularly focused on local councillors, citing examples of parish and borough councillors who have been subject to horrific abuse.
