"The sky never decided who drinks. Whoever held the cup did." 🕯️ In a small desert town, one young woman keeps the water. She is sent across the salt to drill a test well under a lake that shines and never comes closer. She scrapes dew off the rocks before dawn. She counts how many days a courtyard pool will last. Then the town learns to take: a wooden wheel, a house full of winter ice, a clock made of water that tells each house when its turn has come, a ledger written in three generations of hands. At the very end she stands behind a shadow-play screen and finally sees what everyone else has been looking at - a brimming pool, made of one lamp and her own two hands. We do this in our own lives too: we spend years waiting for something to arrive, then years making sure we have enough of it, and one day we notice that "enough" was always a number somebody else wrote down. I didn't want this to sound like thirst. Thirst is easy - make everything dry and everyone understands. I wanted it to sound like counting: the way you lie awake doing the same arithmetic over a bill that is due, again and again, even though the answer never changes. So it opens crowded - a whole town of voices singing toward water that isn't there - and track by track the voices fall away, until near the end there is one whisper, one instrument, and a curtain. One thing appears in every picture of this journey, from the first track to the last, and it doesn't stay the same. Watch for it, and tell me what you think happens to it. 🔊 Soundscape Elements: Hypnotic 90s New Age, Ethereal Trance and Dark Ambient A different Persian voice for every place: Qanun, Chang, Setar, Ghaychak, Robab, Dotar, Kamancheh, Tar, Santur, Ney, Shurangiz, Oud and Tanbur Ghostly Farsi whispers under hushed Gregorian and Latin chant Spaces you can hear: a moonlit salt flat, a deep well shaft, a domed ice house, a hall of mirrors 🎧 Headphones recommended - for the moment the mirror hall opens up around you and one lamp turns into a thousand lights.
