Have you ever tried something completely new without knowing whether it would work?
Today on Stirring Things Up, I'm experimenting with something I'd never baked with before — Falooda Mix! 🌹🧁
Falooda is a popular South Asian dessert drink, traditionally made with things like milk, rose flavouring, basil seeds and vermicelli. But instead of making a glass of falooda, I decided to do what I do best...
Put it in a cupcake. 😂
And somewhere between the mixing bowl and the oven, I started thinking about how often we are afraid of believing in ourselves!
Maybe we don't need to know exactly what we're doing.
Maybe sometimes we just need to be brave enough to try.
So today's little life lesson is:
Trust yourself!
And if you're feeling particularly adventurous... put the falooda powder in the cupcake. 😉
If you enjoy easy baking, funny kitchen experiments, honest conversations and little lessons about life, I'd love you to subscribe and join me on the journey.
Grab yourself a coffee, come into the kitchen and...
Let's Stir Things Up. ❤️
🧁 FALOODA CUPCAKES — RECIPE
Cupcakes — makes 12
Ingredients:
125 g cake flour/plain flour
60 g SpiceMecca Falooda Mix — 1 whole packet
50 g caster sugar
100 g butter, softened
2 large eggs
100 ml milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
1½ tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
Rose Cream
250 ml whipping cream
1 tbsp icing sugar
½ tsp vanilla essence
1 tbsp Falooda Mix, optional
Optional toppings
Pistachios
Desiccated coconut
Glacé cherries
Rose syrup
Method
Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan).
Beat the butter and caster sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla.
Mix together the flour, Falooda Mix, baking powder and salt.
Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
Mix just until combined.
Divide between 12 cupcake cases, filling each about two-thirds full.
Bake for approximately 18–22 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean.
Allow the cupcakes to cool completely.
Whip the cream with the icing sugar and vanilla until firm.
Pipe onto the cooled cupcakes and decorate with pistachios, coconut, cherries or a little rose syrup.
Tip: The Falooda Mix is already quite sweet, so don't go overboard with additional sugar!
