For Hauwa Usman, Noratum Musa Badara, and Zubainatu Umar, farming is about more than what the land can produce. It is about building businesses that can grow, creating opportunities, and securing a stronger future for their families.
In Yamaltu/Deba, Gombe State, the three members of the Tunga Women’s Association are investing in their farming businesses while navigating challenges that can limit agricultural productivity, including access to financing and essential farm inputs.
Through our work with MEDA, which manages the Africa Growth Fund, Trade Lenda works alongside Agriarche to help address these barriers. Through this initiative, the women accessed non-collateralized financing and essential farm inputs, enabling them to invest in solar-powered water pumps, pay off equipment debts, and reinvest profits into their farms.
By improving access to financing and productive resources, this intervention helps women farmers strengthen their operations and pursue new opportunities for growth. It also illustrates how targeted support can help address barriers to productivity and contribute to stronger agricultural value chains.
For Hauwa, Noratum, and Zubainatu, progress goes beyond the next harvest. It is about building more resilient farming businesses, strengthening their livelihoods, and creating opportunities for their families.
Watch their story to see how access to finance and essential farm inputs can help women farmers grow their businesses and build for the future.
