Kanakadhārā Stotram (कनकधारास्तोत्रम्) — "a stream of gold" — is Ādi Śaṅkarācārya's hymn to Mahālakṣmī. The tradition tells of a poor woman who had nothing to offer but one gooseberry. She gave it with all her heart. Moved, the young Śaṅkara sang this stotram, and a rain of golden gooseberries fell at her door. This is Day 5 of Śāradīya Navarātri, the night of Maa Skandamātā, mother of Skanda — the second of the three nights that belong to Lakṣmī.
