A video recorded along Dublin Bus routes 79 and 79A from the City Centre to Spiddal Park and Park West in 2022. Phase 4 of Bus Connects on the 16th October 2022 saw the main routes to Ballyfermot reorganised into the G-Spine. These changes brought about the end of routes 79 and 79A, as well as the western end of route 40. Route 79 ran from the City Centre to Spiddal Park in Cherry Orchard, via Kilmainham, Decies Road, and Ballyfermot. It first started in 1949, with the current version of the route dating from 1994. Route 79A ran from the City Centre to Park West (or Parkwest as per destination displays) via Decies Road (skipping Kilmainham), Ballyfermot and Cherry Orchard. It started in 2005. Both routes shared a common section between Aston Quay and St John's Road, and between Decies Road and Cherry Orchard. Under Bus Connects the 79 is mostly replaced by new route 60, and the 79A is mostly replaced by new route G1 (though this goes via Inchicore and skips Decies Road). This video was recorded in July (mostly Ballyfermot) and on the last day of both routes on the 15th October (City Centre, Kilmainham, Cherry Orchard and Park West). 00:00 Introduction 01:20 Kilmainham 02:51 Ballyfermot 05:25 Cherry Orchard 07:23 Park West Route 79: Aston Quay - Kilmainham - Decies Road - Ballyfermot - Spiddal Park Route 79A: Aston Quay - Decies Road - Ballyfermot - Cherry Orchard - park West Buses Featured: Enviro 400 / EV Class: EV 55*, EV 59*, EV 64 Enviro 400ER / PA Class: PA 220*, PA 225, PA 230, PA 232*, PA 235, PA 238 Wrights Gemini 3 / SG Class: SG 428*, SG 459, SG 518* Wrights Streetdeck HEV96 / WH Class Buses recorded on the last day #DublinBus #BusConnects #Route79 #Route79A
