Beyond the successful launch of a missile, the achievement demonstrates India's ability to develop powerful defence systems using indigenous technology. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully completed the test flight of the Pralay ballistic missile, indigenously designed and developed in India. The test was conducted off the Odisha coast at 11:10 am on Thursday. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that all the objectives of the test had been successfully achieved. What is the Pralay missile? Simply put, Pralay is a land-based ballistic missile designed to strike targets on the ground. It has been developed primarily to meet the defence requirements of the Indian Army and Indian Air Force. The missile is capable of carrying conventional warheads to target enemy military installations, infrastructure and other strategically important locations.
