Space Truckers (1996) — Dennis Hopper, Killer Robots and ’90s Cult Sci-Fi

Space Truckers (1996) is a bizarre ’90s science fiction cult movie starring Dennis Hopper, Stephen Dorff, and Debi Mazar. Set in a strange future where interstellar truckers haul cargo across the galaxy, the film throws space pirates, corrupt corporations, killer robots, bizarre technology, and plenty of ’90s B-movie cheese into one very strange adventure. Marc, Bill, and Rena break down the movie’s outrageous world-building, practical effects, robot designs, performances, strange technology, and wonderfully questionable science. We also look at Dennis Hopper’s larger-than-life performance and why Space Truckers has become a forgotten favorite among fans of low-budget science fiction and cult cinema. Is Space Truckers an underrated ’90s sci-fi gem or a gloriously cheesy piece of space trash?
