One sermon in Solomon's Colonnade, and Peter reaches back to Moses' own promise: God will raise up 'a prophet like me' - and now everything turns on listening to Him. Here is how you see that promise fulfilled, and the type of Moses beneath it - walk the square.
In this Walk the Square, Professor Westminster takes a single Old Testament promise - and the figure of Moses behind it - and walks all four corners of Edmund Clowney's square: start with the text in its own world (bottom-left), up the left to the truth it taught Israel, that God will not leave His people voiceless but gives a mediator-prophet who speaks God's own words, so that to hear him is life and to refuse him is to be cut off (top-left), across the top to its fulfillment in Christ, the Prophet like Moses and greater than Moses - who does not only bring God's word but is the Word (top-right), and down the right to what it means for you (bottom-right). Only then, with every side walked, do we draw the diagonal - the type itself, now standing in full view: the whole office of Moses, and the promise God spoke through him, really did point forward to His Son.

THE THREAD
Here the thread is a real, shared word, and Peter quotes it straight from Moses: the Hebrew shama ('hear/obey') in 'to him you shall listen' (Deuteronomy 18:15) passes into Greek as akouo - the very word in Acts 3:22-23. And the same command falls from heaven at the Transfiguration, the Father citing Moses in Moses' own presence: 'This is My Son... Listen to Him' (Luke 9:35). One command runs the whole way - hear this Prophet - and it carries covenant life or death.
The method here is Edmund Clowney's, refined by Vern Poythress.
