What Is Common Grace? How God Shows Kindness to Everyone | Genesis 1:29

This sermon explains common grace: the unearned kindness God shows to every person, not only to Christians. Beginning with God's provision of food in Genesis 1:29, it looks at four ways God shows this grace: he provides for our needs, he holds back the judgment we deserve, he restrains human evil, and he gives us glimpses of himself through beauty, joy and good gifts. Along the way the sermon looks at Matthew 5, Romans 2 and 13, 2 Peter 3 and Genesis 6, and shows that God's patience is meant to lead us to repentance. Common grace tells us that God is patient, in control, and still loves us, and all of it points to the cross. The listener is asked to notice these gifts, think on them through the week, and respond with deeper worship.
