A chemical compatibility chart for lab storage shows which hazard groups can share a cabinet and which must be kept apart. Most charts online answer a different question.
Search "chemical compatibility chart" and most results are material compatibility charts: will this solvent soften tubing, swell a seal, or crack a container? Useful, but they won't tell you whether two bottles on the same shelf could react if they broke.
In this short explainer from Lab Manager:
• The difference between storage (reactivity) compatibility and material compatibility
• How a storage chart matches hazard groups and flags reactions like heat, fire, and toxic gas
• Where labs use it: storage segregation, waste consolidation, and spill planning
• Where to check a specific chemical: SDS Section 10, the EPA compatibility chart, and NOAA's CAMEO Chemicals
• Why you also need manufacturer resistance data for containers, containment trays, tubing, and seals
Most labs need both: one chart to decide what goes where, and one to make sure the container can hold it.
