My Vietnam scooter trip continues as I leave Hoi An and head deep into the Central Highlands — travelling through Quy Nhon, Kon Tum and Pleiku on my journey from Hanoi to Saigon. This episode starts with my longest ride of the trip so far: nearly 290km from Hoi An to Quy Nhon. Rain, highways, endless towns and more than six hours in the saddle later, I finally make it to the coast. The following morning, I visit the ancient Bánh Ít Cham Towers before getting back on the bike for another 190km ride inland to Kon Tum. In Kon Tum, I cross the Đăk Bla River and head out to explore the ethnic minority villages of Vietnam’s Central Highlands, learning more about the Bahnar people and their distinctive traditional communal houses. I also visit Kon Tum’s famous Wooden Church before continuing south towards Pleiku. And after two huge days on the road, the final ride is thankfully only 50km. In Pleiku, I visit the beautiful Minh Thành Pagoda, stay in one of the best-value hotels of my entire Vietnam trip — and discover from a local that there’s apparently a volcano nearby. Obviously, I had to go looking for it. This video is part of my full Vietnam travel series, documenting a 3,000km journey from Hanoi to Saigon by scooter. 👍 Like the video and subscribe to follow the rest of the journey.
