What causes ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV), and how do we treat it? ANCA-associated vasculitis is a group of autoimmune diseases that cause inflammation and injury of small blood vessels. When the kidneys are involved, it can cause rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis and acute kidney injury. The lungs and other organs can also be affected. In this video, we explain the disease mechanism, the different types of AAV, how kidney involvement is diagnosed, and the principles of treatment. The goal is to maintain remission while minimizing long-term treatment toxicity. When the kidneys are involved, early recognition and treatment are critical because kidney function can decline rapidly. Treatment aims to induce remission, preserve organ function, prevent relapse, and minimize treatment-related complications. The exact treatment depends on the type of vasculitis, severity of organ involvement, kidney function, ANCA type, age, infection risk, and other individual factors. This video is for educational purposes only and does not replace individualized medical advice. #ANCAVasculitis #ANCA #GPA #MPA #EGPA #GranulomatosisWithPolyangiitis #MicroscopicPolyangiitis #Vasculitis #Glomerulonephritis #KidneyDisease #AKI #Nephrology #KidneyHealth #KidneyClarity
