A 41-year-old Japanese salaryman. It's Obon week in Japan. Most people are on holiday. I'm working. No suit today. Just repair work, cleaning up customer equipment, and driving around. By the time I finally stopped for lunch... It was 3:18 PM. And I was hungry. So I went to Ichiran. This time, I wanted to try something different. Ramen. Extra chashu. Kikurage. Green onion. Nori. And half kaedama. ¥1,780. About $11. But I didn't want to put everything in at once. Kikurage first. Then chashu. Then kaedama and all the green onion. Nori at the end. Same bowl. But every topping changed it. I usually order my Ichiran richer. Today I went light. And somehow, the tonkotsu aroma felt even stronger. Then came the green onion. That might have been my favorite part. One bowl of ramen. Four or five different ways to enjoy it. Not bad for a late lunch. And yes... Half kaedama was enough. I'm not a big eater. By the end, I was completely full. Still wanted more green onion though. Then lunch was over. Back to work. I stepped outside... Sunny. And raining. Weird day. Gochisosama.
