Day 12 on the Bayou State Trail started at the peaceful Pecan Grove Campground, right next to Three Jays convenience store—home to some truly amazing food. After breakfast and a quick bathroom stop, I hit the road heading toward the Sandstone Trail in Kisatchie National Forest. Along the way, I linked up with John, who had left his truck at the Corral Campground and hiked north to meet me. We hiked back together, swapping trail stories and enjoying some solid company. Once back at his truck, we were treated to cold drinks and snacks—a little bit of trail magic that hit the spot. Not long after, I set up my hammock just in time for a surprise rain shower. Threw up my tarp fast and rode it out with a nap that turned into a full reset. Woke up around 10 p.m. realizing I still had editing to do. Another great day discovering what this new trail system has to offer. Thanks for following the journey.
