What does Jesus see when He looks at His Church?
In Revelation chapters 2 and 3, Jesus speaks to seven churches with words of encouragement, correction, and love.
He sees beyond appearances. He knows their faithfulness, their struggles, and the places where love has grown cold.
When You Walk Among Us is a prayer inviting Jesus to search our hearts, rekindle our love, strengthen our faith, and make us faithful witnesses of His light.
The One whose eyes burn like fire is also the One who stands at the door and knocks.
May we always welcome Him in.
Scripture: Revelation 2–3 | John 15:1–5
Jesus, You walk among Your churches.
Nothing hidden from Your eyes.
You see beyond appearances.
You know what's really there.
And still You stay among us.
Still You speak.
Because the eyes that burn like fire
belong to the One
who loves us.
“I know.”
You said it again and again.
I know your work.
I know your pain.
I know where you live
and what it costs
to remain faithful to My name.
You saw the poor
and called them rich.
You saw the weak
who kept Your word.
Jesus, nothing faithful
escapes Your eyes.
So walk among us, Jesus.
See what only You can see.
Name the things that look like You
and what is keeping us from Thee.
Where Your light is burning,
breathe upon the flame.
Where something dims our witness,
love us enough
to name it.
Make us faithful to Your name.
You found a church that guarded truth,
that persevered and stood.
And You said,
“I see it.
But you've left
your first love.”
Oh Jesus...
Don't let us become right about You
and distant from Your heart.
Don't let knowing what is true
replace delighting in who You are.
“Remember.
Repent.
Return.”
Call us back
to You.
Some looked alive.
You saw the death beneath the name.
Some thought themselves so wealthy
they had need of nothing more.
Others had so little strength—
and yet they kept Your word.
And You placed an open door before them
no one else could close.
Jesus,
we don't need to look impressive.
We need to be found
faithful.
And then You told us why:
“Those whom I love,
I rebuke
and discipline.”
There it is.
Blazing eyes.
Scarred hands.
The Judge who tells the truth
because He loves His church.
So prune what needs pruning.
Wake whatever's sleeping.
Clean whatever dims the light.
More fruit.
More light.
More Jesus
seen in us.
And when You don't remove the suffering,
be the One who stays.
You told the frightened church,
“Be faithful
even unto death.”
And the One who asked it
had already walked that road.
“I was dead.
And now I live.”
So when faithfulness costs everything,
let the Living One
be enough.
And then...
after all the warnings,
after everything Your eyes had seen,
You stood outside a door
and knocked.
“Here I am.”
Not forcing.
Not leaving.
Knocking.
“If anyone hears My voice
and opens the door,
I will come in.
We will eat together.”
Jesus...
after all Your searching,
this is what You wanted.
You wanted
us.
So walk among us, Jesus.
See what only You can see.
Where love has cooled,
rekindle it.
Where we've compromised,
make clean.
Where we're sleeping,
wake us.
Where we're weak,
be our strength.
And where we've learned
to live without You—
knock again.
More fruit.
More light.
More faithful witness.
More of Jesus
in our lives.
And Jesus...
walk among the lampstand
of my life.
Don't let me look alive
while something inside is dying.
Don't let me know Your truth
and lose my love for You.
See me.
Know me.
Correct me.
Call me.
And when You knock...
find the door open.
Come in.
Sit with me.
Stay with me.
There is still more of You
I want to know.
