From a sunny Saturday afternoon at Osu Kannon into the night, through the covered arcades, a quiet shrine, a tug-of-war in the street and the back alleys. There is no spoken narration — Shin talks to you in short English captions on screen. The Osu Daido Chonin Festival has been held every October since 1978. In 2026 it ran from October 9 to 11, and this walk was filmed on the Saturday. A red carpet runs through the arcades, there is pro wrestling music in front of a temple, a camel made of balloons, and people sitting in the street to watch the shows. The walk starts at Osu Kannon and goes through Niomon-dori, Higashi-Niomon-dori, Fureai Hiroba and Shin-Tenchi-dori. On Akamon-dori it steps out to Miwa Shrine, a small shrine full of rabbits right in the middle of the shopping district. Its grounds were once an archery practice ground for the Owari Tokugawa family — that is where the nearby Yaba-cho got its name. Back in the arcades, the walk passes Banshoji-dori and Kannon-dori and returns to Osu Kannon at dusk. In the evening there is a tug-of-war right in the middle of the street, a yakitori stall, the narrow back alleys that Shin likes best, and, at the end, a magic show at Fureai Hiroba.
