This was the Chelsea Road level crossing in Chelsea, Victoria, Australia. This level crossing was located on the Frankston railway line and was closed off and grade separated by lowering the railway line into a trench in November 2021, with traffic rediverted onto Thames Promenade. This level crossing was a gated setup consisting of two gated signals, and four flashing light signals. There was also a protected pedestrian crossing with swing gates on the southern side. There were two tracks going through this level crossing which were both broad gauge. This level crossing was maintained by Metro The level crossing equipment consisted of: Two General Signals Type 2 electronic bells. The bell on the north western gated signal was programmed to sound until the boom gates had lowered. Westinghouse crossarms with unbranded Westinghouse incandescent lights, and newer style Westinghouse LED lights on the north western flashing light signal. Invensys Rail boom gate mechanisms 5 inch Westinghouse Brake and Signal Co clamp style based on both gated signals. As mentioned earlier in the description there was a pedestrian level crossing with swing gates on the southern side with push button release escape gates. The mechanisms were manufactured by Magnetic Drive technology.
