I was especially excited for this one. A lot of what makes Nene Royal so fun to watch is the brightness, the energy, the joy, the way she just seems to light up when she’s performing. But “Creep” doesn’t really want that. This song asks for something darker. More contained. More uncomfortable. And that requires a different kind of control. It takes restraint to have all of that power available and choose not to throw it at the song. Instead, you have to redirect it into the tone, the phrasing, the tension, and the emotional weight. And Nene absolutely crushed that here. I know it sounds like hyperbole at this point, but I genuinely think she is about as close to flawless as you can reasonably expect a 16-year-old musician to be. The vocals, the musicianship, the instincts, the confidence… it’s ridiculous. I’m just really glad I found out about her. This entire rabbit hole has been one of the most fun parts of the channel so far, and I’m nowhere near done. So what do you want to see next?
