If you ever find yourself living an extended portion of time with an external fixator, you'll want to make sure your leg and foot are protected from the elements (cold in particular). Here is a tutorial on how to fit a sock over at least a portion of your foot without irritating and pins. I use wide, loose fuzzy socks for the least restriction to circulation and most warmth.
