Northern Voices: For the People We Love

For our next Northern Voices story, we hear from people whose personal experiences with dementia inspired them to support others and strengthen their communities. They share what meaningful programs can provide for people living with dementia: enrichment, connection, dignity, and a place where they feel loved and safe. We also hear about the value of support groups for care partners and the comfort that comes from connecting with people who understand. This story also highlights why local support matters. Funds raised in our communities help provide programs and services for people living with dementia and their care partners, right here in Northern Ontario. Northern Voices is also a reminder that dementia is part of the lives of people and families right here in our northern communities. The conversation does not here. By continuing to listen, learn, challenge stigma, and support one another, we can help build communities where people living with dementia and their care partners feel valued, included, supported, and never alone.
