The Ruapehu Explorer with Jb 1236 - February 2026

On Valentine's Day 2026, Mainline Steam Heritage Trust ran a long distance excursion from Plimmerton to National Park and return behind Jb 1236 which ran solo the entire way. The oil burner made light work of the North Island Main Trunk, marking another great success to Mainline Steam's return to KiwiRail's network.
