I drove through the world’s longest expressway tunnel — Tianshan Victory Tunnel, 22 km straight through the Tianshan Mountains on the G0711 Urumqi–Yuli Expressway, Xinjiang, China. 1,112 meters of mountain overhead. 16 geological fault zones. Straight through. The ventilation system reaches deep underground through a 662-meter vertical shaft — equivalent to a 234-story skyscraper buried under solid rock. 22 km. About 20 minutes. Straight through the Tianshan Mountains. Located in Xinjiang, western China, the Tianshan Mountains divide Xinjiang into southern and northern regions. The Tianshan Victory Tunnel connects the two, cutting straight through the mountains. It reduces the driving time between Urumqi and Korla from about 7 hours to around 3.5 hours. No music.
