High quality bicycle highway design in Helsinki

The latest section of Eastern Baana (Itäbaana / Östra banan) opened in 2025, creating a shortcut from Kulosaari Boulevard cycle street toward Herttoniemi Metro Station. The 1 km route includes a bicycle roundabout and a new bridge over the previous alignment along a busy road. From the roundabout, Eastern Baana continues east with a 4-metre-wide cycle path and a separated pedestrian path alongside the metro.
