Eating more won’t build muscle faster. Past a point, it just makes you fatter. Your body has a speed limit for building muscle. It depends far more on how long you’ve been training than on how old you are, and once you know where you sit, setting your calories is simple. In this video: → Does age actually slow down muscle growth? → Realistic rates of muscle gain for years 1, 2–3 and 4+ → Why a bigger surplus mostly means more fat → Why carrying extra body fat changes everything (and when to recomp instead) → How to set your surplus, step by step If you’re reasonably lean: Beginner: 10–15% surplus Intermediate: 5–10% surplus Advanced: 0–5% surplus Over 20% body fat (men) or 30% (women)? Eat at maintenance or just below, keep protein high and train hard. Want me to guide you through this process so that you get the best results possible? Drop me a message: ryan.doolan@per4ormgroup.com
