Freyja's Gold (Music Video) - Viking Song with Female Vocals | Freyja Weeps for Odr

Viking song with female vocals. The official music video for "Freyja's Gold" - track 5 of SHIELDMAIDEN, the third album by Viking Ash and the first with a voice on it. THE STORY Freyja is the Norse goddess of love, war and the dead - half of everyone who falls in battle belongs to her, not to Odin. She owns the necklace Brisingamen, a cloak of falcon feathers and a chariot drawn by cats. Her husband Odr left on a journey and never came back. Snorri Sturluson records that she searched for him among unknown peoples, weeping tears of red gold, and took a different name in every land she passed through. A goddess with everything, looking for one specific man. THE LYRICS "Mardoll in the salt towns. Gefn out on the plain. Horn where they don't know me. Syr where they don't ask." - those are her real recorded names from the Prose Edda. Each one is a place she looked and did not find him. "The gold comes down my face. Worth a kingdom. Worth a grave." - her tears are literally gold in the sources. Grief that other people can pick up off the floor and spend. "If you are only walking, then walk back. And if you are dead, be dead where I can find you." - the quietest line on the album and the one that hurts most. Frame drum, tagelharpa, bowed lyre, bone flute and low Norse drone. Cinematic Nordic folk, medieval and fantasy music for writing, training, reading, study and deep focus. Visuals are AI-generated; the music is AI-assisted.
