Side A starts at the coffee counter with the same order as always and ends under a neighbour still learning one song on the piano upstairs. Side B takes a Tuesday off, reads one text message twice, paints a new apartment, walks someone home the long way, and hands over a spare key on a yellow ring. Soul is the floor, jazz is on top: pocket drums, round bass and warm keys underneath, with swing, call-and-response and a solo in nearly every song. Five tracks are instrumental, one is sung without words, and one is a duet. No faces this time. Every song gets its own oil pastel painting — a coffee cup, a sleeping dachshund, a bowl of lemons, a window open to the sea. Put it on for focus, for a long walk, or for nothing at all. You keep the couch, I'll keep the view. A6 Tram Bell — Instrumental. Window seat, the city sliding past. A7 Doing Better Than Me — Took your plant when I left. A new leaf every week — it's doing better than me. A8 Who Called Who — Two hours on the phone. Doesn't really matter; we both picked up.
