Our first night walk. Linz switches its lights on, and for ten days a year there is a funfair in the middle of it.
This is a full loop around the Danube at night. It starts at blue hour by the football stadium, follows the river park past the Brucknerhaus to the Lentos art museum glowing red, climbs to the Nibelungenbrücke and crosses with the Ars Electronica Center changing colour ahead. On the Urfahr side it drops to the riverbank and walks straight into the Urfahraner Markt, the autumn fair the locals call "Urfix": food stalls, rides, neon and half the city out for the evening. Then the noise fades, the path goes dark and quiet along the water, and the walk comes home over the lit arches of the new Eisenbahnbrücke.
No commentary. No music. Just footsteps, the river, the fairground from far away, then from the middle of it, then from far away again.
📍 Linz, Upper Austria. Hofmann Personal Stadion → Donaulände → Brucknerhaus → Lentos → Nibelungenbrücke → Ars Electronica Center → Urfahraner Markt → Neue Eisenbahnbrücke → back to the stadium, a loop of about 4.3 km

About what you see: The Urfahraner Markt has been held since 1817 and is Austria's oldest funfair. It comes twice a year, in spring and autumn, and entry is free to this day. The Lentos opened in 2003 and its glass shell is lit from inside after dark. Across the river stands the Ars Electronica Center, the "Museum of the Future", with a façade of 1,100 glass panels and about 40,000 LEDs. The Neue Eisenbahnbrücke opened in 2021 and replaced the old railway bridge from 1900.

🇦🇹 Linz bei Nacht: Donaurunde über zwei Brücken, Lentos, Ars Electronica Center und Urfahraner Markt
Unser erster Nachtspaziergang.
