In Acts 4:32–5:11, the early church is united by the gospel, committed to God’s Word, and remarkably generous toward those in need. Barnabas models faithful, grace-shaped giving, while Ananias and Sapphira offer a sobering warning about dishonesty, hypocrisy, and the seriousness of sin. Guest preacher Johnathan Newman highlights three essentials for a healthy church: sound theology, gospel-shaped generosity, and the fear of God. The church must hold firmly to biblical truth, worship God faithfully with its resources, and lovingly address sin with the goal of repentance and restoration. Everything we possess ultimately belongs to God. Because Jesus gave Himself to save us, His followers are called to live generously, take up their crosses, and use what God has entrusted to them for His glory and the good of His people. May we be a church that teaches the Word faithfully, gives generously, takes sin seriously, and rejoices in the grace of Jesus.
