A successful dry-docking starts before the vessel enters the dock.
At Tenerife Shipyards, part of Hidramar Group, our engineering, production and technical teams are already working afloat on the PRESTIGIOUS WD, preparing the vessel for her upcoming entry into our new floating dry dock.
With 240 m of length, 36 m of clear internal beam and 22,000 tonnes of lifting capacity, the new facility significantly expands the ship repair capabilities available in the Canary Islands and is designed to handle large commercial vessels with demanding repair scopes.
Engineering and pre-docking works
Our objective is simple: maximize the productive time of the vessel once she is in dry dock.
The pre-docking campaign includes:
🔹 Structural inspection & deck equipment conditioning
Inspection and preparation of mooring systems, winches, deck machinery and rigging arrangements to ensure safe and efficient docking operations.
🔹 Tank restoration & structural repairs
Internal access preparation, high-pressure hydroblasting, surface preparation, coating restoration and steel renewal/welding repairs on internal stiffeners and bulkheads.
🔹 Piping, hydraulic & electrical verification
Inspection and verification of critical piping, hydraulic systems and electrical interfaces, including shore power / auxiliary power connections, ensuring that required services can be connected efficiently during the docking period.
🔹 Docking engineering & interface preparation
Detailed coordination between vessel condition, docking arrangement, keel-block configuration, utilities and production requirements to ensure a controlled transition from afloat operations to dry-dock execution.
For shipowners and fleet managers, dry-dock time is commercial time.
Every hour saved in mobilization, preparation, access, logistics or interface coordination can contribute directly to reducing the vessel’s off-hire period.
That is why our approach is not simply to provide a dry dock.
We prepare the work before the vessel enters it.
The PRESTIGIOUS WD will be the first vessel to enter our new floating dry dock, marking an important milestone for Tenerife Shipyards and for the development of large-scale ship repair capacity in the Canary Islands.
Engineering before docking.
Production during docking.
Less idle time.
More value for the vessel owner.
