11 Florida Towns That Almost Never Flood — Even During Hurricane Season
Florida sold the water's edge for a century. But an hour or two inland sits a different Florida: high, sandy ridges that were islands when most of the state was underwater. In these towns, flood risk models can barely find a house at risk.
We used First Street Foundation's flood risk model, the scores that now appear on home listings, to rank the 11 Florida towns with the smallest share of properties at risk of severe flooding. Then we dug into why the safest ground in the state was bypassed, who lives there now, and what happens as buyers start moving inland.
Low risk isn't zero risk. When one of these towns has flooded, we tell you.

Flood risk figures are from First Street Foundation's Flood Factor, the share of properties likely to be severely affected by flooding over the next 30 years, as shown on Redfin in October 2026. Low flood risk does not mean no flood risk. This is not financial or insurance advice.
