Davies has finally told Sally everything she came to learn.
She has his confession. She has the name of the person who ordered young Brannan's murder. She even knows how much Lloyd was paid for the contract.
There is nothing more she needs from him.
And that changes everything.
Sally knows she cannot leave Davies alive. The moment she walks out of the Connections Bar, Lloyd could warn the client who hired him. One telephone call would be enough to compromise everything that comes next.
The hope of survival she gave him during the interrogation was never a promise.
It was leverage.
Now it has served its purpose.
Sally looks at Davies with the same detached expression she has worn throughout their conversation. Then, almost mockingly, she borrows the language men like Lloyd use to distance themselves from what they do.
“Nothing personal.”
A short pause.
“Just business.”
There is a cruel irony in it. Lloyd had tried to excuse young Brannan's murder in almost exactly the same way. Now Sally turns that professional cliché back on him.
She opens fire.
There are seven rounds left in the Colt, and Sally intends to use them all.
Brannan has given her another incentive. On top of her regular fee, he promised an additional thousand dollars for every bullet she puts into his son's killer.
Seven rounds.
Seven thousand dollars.
To Sally, the arithmetic is brutally simple.
Money is why she entered this business, and money is why she remains in it. Whatever sympathy she might once have possessed for the people at the other end of a contract disappeared a long time ago. In her experience, most of them are no more innocent than the people paying to have them killed.
Between the shots, Sally coldly reminds Lloyd that she enjoys the game.
After the fifth shot, Davies collapses to the floor.
Sally stops.
For a moment, the office becomes quiet again.
She looks down at him and realizes he is still alive.
Two rounds remain.
Sally approaches without hurry. There is no panic now, no anger and no uncertainty. As far as she is concerned, this is simply unfinished business.
She crouches beside Davies.
At close range, she fires the remaining two shots.
Lloyd's eyes close.
He doesn't move again.
Sally remains there for a moment, studying him in silence.
Seven bullets.
Seven thousand dollars.
And one less man who can warn the person she is looking for.
For Sally Bennings, the calculation is complete. This end story for first hit Sally/Sydney in San Francisco. She find and kill young's Branan killer. Hitwoman, female assasin, gloved woman, silencer pistole, trench coatm fedora hat.
