The Harvey Blassigame Interview | Rare Mileage

Harvey Blassingame began his career with the L&N Railroad out of Etowah, Tennessee, in March 1966. For over 30 years, until he retired from CSX in 1999, Harvey worked on both the Old and New Lines (L&N's routes between Knoxville and Atlanta), and in retirement, he spent much of his free time volunteering on the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum’s excursion trains on the Old Line. In late 2024, when he was 87, I had an opportunity to interview Harvey with Robert Duncan about his personal life and career working on the railroad. His memory served him remarkably well, and he recalled some of his favorite memories without skipping a beat. Although Harvey is no longer with us, we can take comfort knowing that he – a lifelong believer — is in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. What better time to get called home than Holy Week? Harvey will be missed, but thanks to this interview, his story will live on.
