God Never Asked You to Carry All of This | Matthew 11:28
Have you been praying:
“God, give me strength. Give me strength to keep going. Give me strength to carry everything”?
But what if the answer isn't simply more strength?
What if you need to ask:
“Why am I carrying all of this in the first place?”
Some burdens are genuine responsibilities.
But others come from people-pleasing.
Guilt.
Fear.
Pride.
Trying to fix everybody.
Trying to keep everybody happy.
Trying to control outcomes you cannot control.
Always being “the strong one.”
Jesus says in Matthew 11:28–30:
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Being responsible does not mean carrying everything.
You can care about someone without becoming responsible for every decision they make.
You can love your family without solving every problem for every family member.
You can work diligently without making your career your entire identity.
You can help someone without becoming their permanent rescue plan.
You can be generous and still have boundaries.
You can be kind and still say no.
And sometimes you need to ask:
“Is this actually mine to carry?”
This message is not permission to abandon genuine responsibilities, commitments, family, work or obligations.
Instead, it's an invitation to distinguish between what has genuinely been entrusted to you and what you've added because of fear, guilt, people-pleasing or the need to control.
For the next seven days, whenever you feel overwhelmed, write down what is weighing on you and ask three questions:
1. Is this mine to do?
2. Is this mine to help with—but not control?
3. Or is this something I need to release completely?
If it's yours, ask God for strength and handle it faithfully.
If you're called to support but cannot control the outcome, help within healthy limits and release the outcome.
And if it was never yours to carry:
Put it down.
🙏 Pray:
“Father, give me strength for what You have entrusted to me, wisdom to know my limits, and courage to release what is not mine to carry.”

📖 Scripture: Matthew 11:28–30
Declare:
“I will carry what God has entrusted to me, and I will release what is not mine to carry.”
May the Lord give you strength for every responsibility that belongs to you, wisdom to recognise what does not, courage to establish healthy boundaries, and rest for your body, mind and soul.
In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
