Is the way we dress really our own choice? A woman in Europe may wear a short skirt and say, “It’s my choice.” A Muslim woman may wear a hijab, niqab or burqa and say exactly the same thing. But how much of what we call “choice” is actually shaped by family, religion, culture, fashion and society? This vlog takes a journey through the fascinating history of clothing — from the earliest humans who may have dressed for survival, to ancient civilizations where clothing became a marker of class, gender and status. We explore the ancient Assyrian laws on veiling, the history of covering women’s bodies before Islam, the Quranic concepts of khimar and jilbab, and the differences between hijab, niqab and burqa. But the deeper question is psychological and philosophical: Where does society end and our own free choice begin? From religious modesty to miniskirts, fashion, advertising and social conditioning, this vlog explores why different societies teach us to see completely different forms of clothing as “normal.” And finally: if freedom means having control over your own body, should freedom include both the right to cover it — and the right not to? #Burqa #Hijab #Niqab #HistoryOfClothing #WomensClothing #FreeWill #FreedomOfChoice #Psychology #SocialConditioning #Islam #Religion #Fashion #WomensRights #Philosophy #Khimar #AtifTauqeer
