Why Supreme Court Is Questioning ECI’s Voter Roll Clean-Up | Talking Sense With Srini

The Supreme Court has raised troubling questions about the Election Commission of India's (ECI) Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the massive drive that has purged millions of voters from the electoral rolls. In a crucial hearing, the apex court clarified that it has not legally endorsed the controversial "logical discrepancy" category that led to the deletion of 26 lakh voters in West Bengal, noting that the ECI hasn't even clearly defined what the term means. Meanwhile, the real-world impact is raising eyebrows—Bengaluru's electorate-to-population ratio has reportedly dropped to just 65%, well below the 75% average. In this episode of Talking Sense with Srini, we decode the judicial pushback against the ECI. #SupremeCourt #ElectionCommission #VoterRolls #TalkingSenseWithSrini #Bengaluru #Democracy #IndianElections #TheFederal #NewsAnalysis ▶For the latest news and analysis - https://thefederal.com/  ▶RSS Feed - https://thefederal.com/google_feeds.xml ▶For more explainers, and interesting videos - https://thefederal.com/category/videos ▶To watch The Federal's shows listed together for your easy access, click here:    • The Federal Programmes   Follow The Federal News here - ▶Website: https://thefederal.com/ ▶Facebook:   / thefederal.india   ▶X: https://x.com/TheFederal_News ▶Instagram:   / thefederal_india   ▶LinkedIn:   / thefederal   ▶Whatsapp channel: https://www.whatsapp.com/channel/0029... ▶Threads: TheFederal India (@thefederal_india) ▶Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3fy3utP... #TheFederal #India #BreakingNews #LatestNews #News #Delhi #Mumbai #Parliament #NarendraModi #RahulGandhi #Politics #Business #Economy Download The Federal App here - ▶Android - http://bit.ly/3DJSkiu ▶iPhone - http://bit.ly/TheFederalios
