Not bodybuilding, not bro splits. Swing notebook from a ridiculous weekend of softball. We played 10 games in two days, spent basically all weekend at the field, won UTrip Fall State on Saturday, then came back Sunday and won the MSF State Championship too. The weekend was a weird mix of rain, long delays, UTrip bats, ASA bats, different arcs, different balls, and completely different feels at the plate. I finished 25 for 35 across the two tournaments, hit around .700 at Fall State and .750 at MSF, but there were still a lot of swings I wanted back. The biggest theme: stop flipping balls to right field and start driving them. When I drive right center, left center, middle, or 5-6, the swing looks high level. When I try to baby a ball over to the right-field line, it turns into a dumb flare swing that gets me in trouble. We break down pool play swings, bad approaches, double plays, rain games, no batting gloves, middle approach, defensive alignment, full-count walks, the first slowpitch strikeout looking of my life, championship game swings, and the difference between hitting a home run because it is the right situation versus accidentally burning one because you refused to swing like a grown up. There were a lot of good takeaways, a lot of teammate bombs, and a lot of proof that the swing is there when the approach is right. Now the focus going into Worlds is simple: drive the gaps, stop flaring the ball, trust the cut, and keep becoming a better complete hitter. 00:00 Two state championships in one weekend 05:00 UTrip bats, ASA bats, and confidence 10:00 Bad start and right-field flare problem 15:00 Pool play swings and approach mistakes 20:00 Rain game comeback and bat slipping 25:00 Championship game defense and middle approach 30:00 Full-count walks and taking better pitches 35:00 MSF State and the strikeout looking 40:00 Anarchy bat confidence and home run swings 46:00 What needs to change before Worlds Extras: Drive the ball. Stop flipping it. Good hitters do not need perfect situations — they need a clear approach and the guts to swing like it.
