Ribbon Pakoda
Ingredients:
Rice flour – 2 glasses
Chana dal (kadalai paruppu) – 1 glass
Roasted gram (pottukadalai) – ¼ glass
Chilli powder – 1 teaspoon
Asafoetida (hing) – ½ teaspoon
Salt – as required
Water – as needed
Oil – for deep frying (coconut oil + groundnut oil)
Method:
First, sieve the rice flour and chana dal flour well.
Transfer them to a mixing bowl. Add chilli powder, asafoetida and salt. Mix everything well with your hands without adding water initially.
Then, gradually add water little by little and mix well to make a dough. The dough should not be too stiff. Keep it slightly soft and loose so that it is easy to press through the mould.
Once the dough is ready, keep it aside.
Heat oil in a kadai. I have used a mixture of coconut oil and groundnut oil.
Once the oil is hot, take the ribbon pakoda mould, fill it with the prepared dough and press the dough into the hot oil, making individual ribbons.
Fry until the ribbon pakoda turns crisp and is cooked through. Once it is done, remove it immediately from the oil.
And that’s it! Crispy and delicious Ribbon Pakoda is ready! 😋❤️
