Physical fitness testing on a carrier happens on the only open ground the ship has: the flight deck. A Nimitz-class carrier is 1,092 feet long, and almost none of the space inside holds room to run. Watch what it takes to turn an aircraft launch surface into a measured course, who administers the test, and why the whole session is scheduled around the flight plan and not the other way around. A Nimitz-class carrier, flight deck operations, physical readiness testing, and what it costs a crew to stay fit when the geometry of the ship works against them. The flight deck clears between flying cycles. Markers go down, safety watches take their positions at the deck edge, and sailors run back and forth on a surface built for jets, with the ocean on three sides. When the window closes, the deck belongs to the aircraft again. This video explains the full sequence: setup, the muscular endurance stations, the timed run, and the scheduling reality that makes all of it harder than it sounds. Built from open-source reporting and analysis. No classified information. Archive footage from official releases and open sources illustrates the events described.
