I went on about 50 first dates over three years before I met my husband. Looking back, I learned a lot about dating, attraction, rejection, compatibility, and what it actually felt like to meet someone who was right for me. When I first started using dating apps, I treated dating almost like a numbers game: meet more people, be efficient, and try to find the “right” person as quickly as possible. But after burning out several times, I started approaching dating very differently. In this video, I share what 50 first dates taught me about: • Dating apps and the pressure to find the right person • Why treating dating like a numbers game can lead to burnout • How I learned to handle rejection without taking it personally • Whether attraction can grow over time • The difference between fireworks, attraction, and compatibility • Why someone being “your type” doesn't necessarily mean they're right for you • How I knew my husband was different from the people I'd dated before • The green, yellow, and red lights I started looking for in relationships • What ultimately made me feel like I could build a life with someone This isn't a guide to finding your soulmate or a formula for dating. It's simply what I discovered through my own experience—and what happened when I stopped trying to maximize dating and started paying more attention to how I actually felt around someone. If you're interested in dating, relationships, attraction, compatibility, psychology, or the experience of trying to understand yourself through everyday life, I hope you'll enjoy this little conversation.
