Hello and welcome to Deaf Talks News! In the Uttarakhand hills, roads are narrow and winding. During medical emergencies, people often take many hours to reach a hospital. A young man from one such village has tried to solve this problem with a flying car. His name is Ravi Tamta. He is from Kafligaon village in Almora district, Uttarakhand. He has a BA degree; he did not study engineering. Ravi has built a flying car prototype called "Habida SkyNex." It is a single-seat car. It runs on battery power. It can take off and land straight up and down without a runway like a drone. It uses electric motors and propellers. The flying car successfully completed its test run in August. However, it will take more time before it can be used to carry passengers commercially. Ravi started working on this project in 2015. He had no laboratory and no expensive equipment. He learned everything from the internet and his own experiments over many years. This is not Ravi's first invention. He has earlier made shoes that charge mobile phones. A smart walking stick for blind people. Fire-fighting equipment for the forest department. Ravi's work shows that hard work and curiosity can achieve big results—even without formal engineering education.
