Hello and Welcome to Deaf Talks News!
We all know that people are protesting against the Election Commissioner to resign.
Protests say lakhs of voters' names were removed from the voter list.
Many protesters have been detained by Delhi Police in the last few days.
A young woman named Athira, a Delhi University student from Kerala joined the protest.
She was detained by police and put inside a police bus.
She says there were no women police officers inside the bus.
She asked the police why there are no women police here?
She says because she asked this question the police slapped her on the face many times and treated badly.
She says her eye was injured and her ear was damaged.
Now she cannot hear in one ear.
Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi held a press conference with Athira beside him.
He said, Athira has lost hearing in one ear. She cannot hear from that ear anymore.
Delhi Police has not yet given an official reply to these specific complaints.
Did you know no one has the power to arrest or remove CEC ? Do you know why ?
Because the Election Commissioner has strong protection.
Parliament must vote and two-thirds of MPs in both houses must agree.
The opposition tried this in March and April but it was rejected.
Protests alone are not enough.
The Supreme Court hearing happened today on October 15 about this issue.
We will update more tomorrow.
