What are the thirteen postures of Tai Chi, and what do they teach about movement, intention and stillness? In this video, we explore the eight gates and five steps of Taijiquan, then read the Song of the Thirteen Postures line by line. Drawing on the commentary of Li Yiyu and the practical interpretation followed on this channel, we examine movement from the waist, the distinction between empty and full, and the relationship between intent, qi and the body. The song brings together some of Tai Chi’s central teachings, including stillness within movement, an upright posture, relaxed coordination and the importance of continual practice. We also explore its connections with Daoist thought, including yin and yang, softness, naturalness and central equilibrium. Daoist Classics explores the texts, thinkers and practices of the Daoist tradition. #TaiChi #Taijiquan #Daoism
