When the I AM Says I Will - God Keeps His Promises in the Storm

What do you do when the storm has already taken the ship, and all you have left to hold on to is a broken piece of wood? In Acts 27, Paul stood on a sinking vessel and told everyone on board to be of good cheer, because God had promised there would be no loss of any man's life, only the ship. That promise held. When the I AM says I will, it is settled. The message moves from Paul's storm back to Exodus 6, where God answers His own name with a string of promises to Israel: I will bring you out. I will rid you of your bondage. I will redeem you. The same God who spoke those words still keeps them, and He does not need you to be flawless to keep them for you. Scripture is full of people God used anyway: Noah, Jacob, Moses, Rahab, David, Peter. The survivors of Paul's shipwreck did not all swim to shore. Some made it on boards and broken pieces of the ship. If you are holding on to what is left, you are still headed for land. Then comes the island, the fire, and the viper. The attack did not show up until the fire was lit, and Paul simply shook it off into the flames and kept going. The message closes with a story about a man who, confined to a bed and able to move only a finger, found a way to keep praising God anyway, and with an open invitation to the altar for prayer, healing, and a fresh start.
