Will Tenneray is a local legend who once killed the notorious gunman Ringo, but now scrapes by working in a saloon, trading on his fading fame to sell drinks to wide-eyed strangers. When a drifting, black-clad gunslinger named Abe Cross rides into town after his horse dies beneath him, the whole community holds its breath, certain that two such deadly reputations can only end one way — with the two men shooting it out in the street. But something unexpected happens. Instead of becoming enemies, the two proud old gunfighters strike up a genuine friendship, sharing drinks, stories, and the quiet understanding of men who know their best days are behind them. Yet the townsfolk keep waiting, betting, and whispering about the inevitable showdown. Desperate for money and darkly amused by the crowd's blood-lust, the two men hatch an audacious plan: to stage their duel to the death inside a bullfighting arena and sell tickets, with all the proceeds going to the survivor — winner take all, widow takes the body.
