The Band is led by and under the direction of their conductor Lieutenant Colonel Musician (Teniente coronel música) D.Jaime Ismael Enguídanos Royo.
The Band is currently stationed Madrid attached administratively to the General Directorate of the Civil Guard Corps. Although the Guardia Civil can trace its lineage back to mid 19th century, it's current formation has only existed since 2006 from the unification of various smaller bands based around Spain.
Personal note:
This is one of the finest military wind bands I have had the privilege of watching and listening to. Their very well balanced classical sound, combined with dynamics whilst on the move was incredible to hear and was testament to the musicians and their director. A first class performance of musicianship with a great Spanish trumpet solo from 04:57.
This is also the final video from my Spanish series taken in Madrid over National Day celebrations 2026.
Thank you to @delvinrodriguez3341 who provided some information on the spanish Civil Guard's unique headdress:
The Guardia Civil’s iconic tricornio (Tricorn Hat) evolved from 18th-century cocked hats into a rigid symbol of Spanish law enforcement, distinguished by its unique flat back (la parte plana). Unlike traditional symmetrical tricornes, the rear brim was flattened flush against the crown for key tactical reasons: it allowed officers to rest their heads against walls or benches without crushing the hat, prevented the brim from catching on rifle straps, and reduced wind resistance while riding horses. Today, crafted from lightweight cork covered in gleaming black patent leather (charol), the flat-backed tricornio remains the proud ceremonial emblem of the Guardia Civil.
